The Sillaba Ceiling / Wall Lamp by FontanaArte was designed by Piero Castiglioni in 1988.  Designed for either wall or ceiling installation, the Sillaba combines discretion and pureness, furnishing any room with its minimal presence.

"I had always wanted to design a light bulb. For many years I was in charge of tradeshows for Osram Italia. I liked the work because I was constantly in contact with the latest models of light sources. And so when the opportunity arose, I put this passion into the Sillaba project, which in substance reproduces the elementary concept of a light bulb: a very low voltage halogen light source and a simple glass diffuser. That makes it sound simple, but actually we had to work out a long series of engineering details to simplify the installation on every ceiling and facilitate the free creation of compositions of points of light." - Piero Castiglioni

Pietro Maria Castiglioni, graduated in architecture in 1970 in Milan, where he lives and works, dedicating, almost exclusively, to lighting design - private homes, showrooms, art galleries, museums, shopping and sports centers, hotels, offices, lighting public and external - and teaching at the University of Geneva, the Domus Academy and the Polytechnic of Milan.
